It’s 4:44 AM. The world is silent, but your mind is already racing. You’re an executive, a high achiever, perhaps even a Veteran used to the grind. You’ve reached the top, but lately, it feels like the top is leaning on you a little too hard.
Does the "messy middle" feel more like a permanent residence than a transition phase? Do you find yourself reacting to every fire in your inbox instead of leading with the vision that got you here?
If you’re nodding, it’s time for a Shyft.
As The Shyft Doctor™, I’ve seen this story a thousand times. You have the skills, but you’ve lost the consistency. You’re doing the work, but you’ve forgotten the "Y", YOU, YOUR WHY, and the fact that you are standing at the crossroads of change.
In my world, we don’t just "shift" gears and hope for the best. We Shyft. We put YOU back at the center. We move with tactical precision and luxury-level authority.
Here are the 5 steps to mastering leadership consistency and reclaiming your mindset before the rest of the world even hits the snooze button.
1. Recognize the "Y" Factor in Your Identity Shyft
Every transformation starts with an Identity Shyft. Most executives try to change their results without changing who they are. But guess what? You can’t build a skyscraper on a cracked foundation.
When I talk about Shyft, the "Y" is everything. It’s the reminder that you are the architect of your own reality. If you are going through a divorce, transitioning out of the military, or facing corporate burnout, you aren’t just "changing." You are navigating an Identity Shyft.
Stop looking at the external chaos and look in the mirror. Who is the version of you that leads with unshakable consistency? That person doesn't react; they respond. They don't panic when Shyft Hits the Fan; they regulate.
Tactical Step: Ask yourself, "Who do I need to be today to make my goals inevitable?" If the answer feels far away, it’s time to bridge that gap with the Freedom Formula.

2. Master the 4:44 AM Discipline and the 34-Minute Mindset
Consistency isn't about doing everything; it's about doing the right things every single day. For many of my C-suite clients, the battle is won at 4:44 AM.
Why 4:44? Because it represents a commitment to the "ghost mode" focus required to lead. It’s about front-loading your day with intention before the demands of your team, your board, or your family take over.
But I’m not asking you to spend four hours in the gym. I want you to embrace the 34-Minute Mindset Protocol:
- 2 Minutes of Goal Setting & Gratitude: Plant your feet. Set your North Star.
- 30 Minutes of Movement: Whether it’s a high-intensity session or a focused walk, move to wake up your nervous system.
- 2 Minutes of Reflection: At the end of the day, celebrate the win.
This 2% of your day (yes, only 34 minutes!) is what creates the compound interest of leadership excellence. If you can’t give yourself 34 minutes, you aren't leading; you’re being led.
Check out my Leadership Training programs to see how we integrate these protocols into corporate culture.
3. Regulate → Rebuild → Rise: The Body Shyft
You can’t lead a company if you can’t lead your own nervous system. Most executives are stuck in a perpetual state of "fight or flight," masquerading as "hustle." This leads to burnout, poor decision-making, and a complete lack of consistency.
A Body Shyft is about moving from dysregulation to resilience. When you are regulated, you have the "tactical luxury" of clarity. You can see the chessboard instead of just the pieces.
This is where somatic awareness comes in. It’s not "woo"; it’s biological. By using breathwork, intentional movement, and nervous system regulation, you rebuild your capacity to handle pressure.
The Doctor’s Orders: When you feel the stress rising, stop. Regulate (breathe, ground). Rebuild (choose a proactive response). Rise (execute).

4. Execute with Emotional Intelligence (The Leadership Shyft)
Leadership consistency isn't just about your schedule; it's about how you show up for others. A true Leadership Shyft involves moving from authoritative control to high-EQ influence.
Are you setting boundaries that protect your energy? Or are you a "yes-man" to your own burnout? Consistent leaders know that "No" is a complete sentence. They lead with emotional intelligence because they have done the inner work to understand their own triggers.
In my C-Suite Executive Coaching, we focus on the 5 C’s:
- Core: Your foundation.
- Confidence: Built through action.
- Consistency: The daily discipline.
- Community: Who has your back?
- Celebration: Honoring the journey.
When you master these, you don’t just manage a team; you inspire a movement. You become the leader who stays calm in the Shyft Zone.
5. Align Your Purpose with "The Y Factor"
The final step is the Purpose Shyft. Many executives wake up at 45 or 50 and realize they’ve built a life they want to escape from. That’s because their success isn't aligned with their soul.
Your purpose isn't a destination; it's an alignment. It’s the "Y Factor" in real-time. Are your daily actions moving you toward a life that feels as good as it looks on LinkedIn?
If the answer is no, don't panic. Shyft Happens™. You have the power to Rewrite in Real Time. Whether you are a Veteran transitioning to the civilian sector or a CEO looking for more meaning, the path forward starts with a single question: Is this aligned?
If you aren't sure, take the Life Alignment Quiz right now. It takes five minutes and will give you the tactical data you need to start your Shyft.

It’s Time to Navigate the Shyft
Consistency is the bridge between goals and accomplishment. But you don't have to walk that bridge alone. Leadership is lonely at the top only if you forget to bring a Crew.
Stop surviving. Start thriving. Whether it's through a 4:44 AM wake-up call or a deep dive into somatic healing, your next level is waiting for you to say "Yes" to the Shyft.
