Do you ever feel like you’re running a race with your shoes tied together? You have the ambition. You have the vision. You might even have the color-coded planner and the expensive gym membership. But when the alarm goes off at 5:00 AM, or when that mid-afternoon slump hits, the motivation evaporates.
Suddenly, your "high performance" goals feel more like a heavy burden than an exciting reality. You tell yourself, "I'll start again on Monday."
But guess what? Monday isn't the problem. The strategy is.
If you’re struggling to stay consistent, it’s not because you lack willpower. It’s because you haven’t mastered the Shyft.
In the world of high performance, we often talk about "shifts" in perspective or "shifting" gears. But at Krystalore Crews, we do things differently. We call it a Shyft. Why the "Y"? Because the "Y" represents YOU. It represents YOUR WHY. It is the crossroads where your current reality meets the change you’ve been demanding of yourself.
Consistency doesn't come from a magical burst of energy. It comes from a tactical, intentional Identity Shyft. Today, I’m going to give you the simple trick that will bridge the gap between where you are and where you want to be.
The Problem: Why Consistency is So Damn Hard
We’ve all been there. You get inspired by a podcast, a book, or a Veteran speaker at a conference. You’re fired up. You promise yourself you’ll work out every day, eat clean, and crush your KPIs.
Then… life happens. A deadline gets moved up. Your kid gets sick. You get stuck in traffic. Shyft Hits the Fan.
When your plan is based on perfect conditions, it’s destined to fail the moment things get messy. Most people treat consistency like an all-or-nothing game. If they miss one day, they quit for the week. They lack a framework to Regulate → Rebuild → Rise.
To fix this, you don't need more motivation. You need a system that starts with "Y."
The Simple Trick: The 34-Minute Mindset
If I told you that you could completely overhaul your consistency in just 34 minutes a day, would you believe me?
As a former professional athlete and performer, I’ve seen what happens when people try to do too much too fast. They burn out. They lose their edge. They forget their "Why."
The trick to high performance isn’t a four-hour morning routine. It’s a focused, non-negotiable 34-minute commitment to yourself. This isn't just about "doing" tasks; it’s about becoming the person who does those tasks.
Why 34 Minutes?
Because it’s doable. It’s short enough that you can’t make excuses, but long enough to actually move the needle on your nervous system and your mindset.
When you commit to this time block, you are practicing the Body Shyft and the Identity Shyft simultaneously. You are telling your brain, "I am the type of person who shows up for myself, no matter what."
How to Implement the "Shyft" Consistency Trick
To make this work, we use a three-part framework: Regulate, Rebuild, and Rise.
1. Regulate (The First 10 Minutes)
Most high achievers are stuck in a state of high-beta brain waves: constant stress, constant "doing." You can’t be consistent if your nervous system is fried.
- The Action: Spend the first 10 minutes of your block on breathwork or mobility. This isn't "woo-woo" stuff; it's tactical nervous system regulation. When you regulate your body, you clear the mental fog that causes procrastination.
2. Rebuild (The Next 14 Minutes)
This is where the Identity Shyft happens.
- The Action: Review your "Why." Not just a goal like "make more money," but the deep, visceral reason behind it. Use a habit tracker (I’ll give you a template below) to visualize your progress. Write down three wins from the previous day. This rebuilds your self-trust. If you can’t trust yourself to follow through on small things, you’ll never master the big ones.

3. Rise (The Final 10 Minutes)
Now that you’re regulated and focused, it’s time for activation.
- The Action: Identify the one "needle-mover" task for the day. Not ten tasks. Just one. Spend these 10 minutes preparing for that task: setting out your clothes, opening the right files, or making the first call.

The Tool: The Shyft Master™ Habit Tracker
Consistency is a visual game. If you don't see your progress, your brain thinks you aren't making any. You need a way to Rewrite in Real Time.
Forget the complicated apps. Grab a notebook or a simple sheet of paper and create a grid. Label it "The Shyft Zone."
What to Track:
- The 34-Minute Block: Did you show up for "Y"?
- Nervous System Check: Did you regulate before you started?
- The One Win: What did you crush today?
The goal isn't perfection; it's the streak. Shyft Happens™: you will miss a day. The rule of high performance is: Never miss twice. If you miss a day, that’s a data point. If you miss two, that’s a new habit of failure.
Moving from Pressure to Power
Many of the executives I coach through Executive Coaching or Leadership Training struggle because they feel a crushing amount of pressure to be perfect.
But true leadership: both of yourself and others: isn't about perfection. It’s about alignment.
Are your daily habits aligned with the version of you that is a Veteran in your field? Are you leading with grounded authority, or are you just reacting to the chaos around you?
When you use the 34-minute trick, you are training your brain to choose power over pressure. You are navigating the Shyft rather than being victimized by it.
Are You Ready to Master the Shyft?
Consistency is the bridge between goals and accomplishment. But that bridge is built one brick at a time, and every brick starts with "Y."
Stop waiting for the "perfect time" to get started. Stop waiting for the motivation to strike. It’s time to activate. It’s time to stop letting life happen to you and start making Shyft Happen™ for you.
If you’re ready to stop guessing and start growing, I have the resources to help you bridge that gap. Whether you’re a corporate leader, a Veteran transitioning to civilian life, or an entrepreneur ready to level up, the journey starts with your mindset.
