Now, let’s talk about something that often gets ignored in leadership circles: Somatic Healing.

Your body is a data center. It stores every stressor, every difficult conversation, and every "fight or flight" moment you’ve experienced throughout your career. If you’re constantly feeling a tightness in your chest or a knot in your stomach during meetings, that’s your body trying to tell you something!

Somatic healing is about learning to listen to those signals and regulate your nervous system. When you can stay calm in your body while the world around you is in chaos, you become the "calm in the storm" for your team. You stop leading from a place of anxiety and start leading from a place of grounded authority.

By integrating somatic practices, simple breathing, body awareness, and movement, into your executive routine, you’re not just managing stress; you’re clearing the path for innovation.

Physical Vitality: The CEO’s Secret Weapon

As a Veteran, I learned early on that physical readiness is the precursor to mission success. In the corporate world, your "mission" requires just as much stamina.

You wouldn't expect a high-performance sports car to run on low-grade fuel and no maintenance, so why do you expect your body to perform at its peak on 4 hours of sleep and caffeine? Holistic leadership means treating your fitness and nutrition as part of your business strategy.

When you fuel your body correctly and prioritize movement, whether it's through my 6-Week Shred or a simple daily walk, you increase your cognitive function. You think faster, you stay sharper, and you have the energy to inspire your team long after the 5 PM whistle blows.

The Mirror Effect: Self-Love as Leadership

It sounds "soft," but self-love is actually the ultimate leadership tool. How you treat yourself sets the standard for how your team treats themselves (and you!).

If you’re a leader who never takes a break, your employees will feel guilty for taking theirs. If you’re a leader who is constantly self-deprecating, your team will hesitate to take risks. But when you lead with self-compassion and set healthy boundaries, you create a culture of excellence and sustainability.

So naturally, the first step to being a better boss is being a better friend to yourself. It’s okay to say no. It’s okay to prioritize your peace. In fact, it’s necessary!

Emotional Intelligence: Beating the Competence Hangover

Have you ever walked into a room knowing you’re capable… but still felt like you had to prove it all over again?
That’s what I call the competence hangover. It’s that emotional crash that shows up after you’ve been performing, producing, solving, and carrying so much for so long that your confidence starts depending on your output.

But guess what? Leadership rooted only in competence will wear you out. When your identity gets tied to being the fixer, the strongest one, or the one with all the answers, you stop leading from wholeness and start leading from pressure. And people can feel that.

This is where self-mastery changes everything. Self-mastery is not about perfection. It’s about emotional intelligence in real time. It’s about noticing when your nervous system is activated, when your inner critic is getting loud, and when your need to "perform" is overriding your ability to connect. That awareness is power!

When you master yourself, you don’t need every room to validate you. You don’t overreact, overexplain, or overwork just to feel worthy. You lead with clarity. You respond instead of spiraling. You create safety because you’ve built it inside yourself first.
