Leadership doesn't start when you walk into the boardroom or log onto that first Zoom call of the day. It doesn't start when you’re delegating tasks or reviewing quarterly KPIs.
Leadership starts in the dark. It starts at 4:44 AM.
If you want to lead a high-performing team, you first have to lead the person in the mirror. Most people are waking up in a state of reaction: scrolling through emails before their eyes are even fully open, letting the world’s demands dictate their mood. But as a leader, you can’t afford to be reactive. You need to be the one who sets the tone.
The Role Model Mindset is about stepping into the excellent version of yourself before anyone else is even awake to see it. It’s about living in the potential you know you are capable of, every single day. And for me, that journey begins when the clock hits 4:44.
The Power of the 4:44 AM Shyft
Why 4:44? Aside from the symbolic foundation it represents, this specific time is about the Y Factor. In my world, we don’t just "shift": we Shyft. That "Y" stands for YOU and YOUR WHY.
When you make the conscious choice to rise while the rest of the world is sleeping, you are building a foundation of discipline that carries through every decision you make for your team. This isn't about sleep deprivation; it’s about self-mastery. As a Veteran, I learned early on that discipline is the highest form of self-love. It’s the framework that allows you to show up as the powerful, grounded authority your organization needs.
When you master the early morning, you stop being a victim of your schedule. You become the architect of your day. This clarity allows you to Regulate, Rebuild, and Rise before the first fire needs to be put out at the office.

Regulate: Controlling the Inner Chaos
Most leaders are operating with a nervous system that is constantly "on." If you haven't regulated yourself, how can you expect to lead a team through a crisis?
The 4:44 AM window is your time to regulate. This is where I use my 34 Minute Mindful Method. It’s a dedicated block of time focused on breath, movement, and mindset. By regulating your internal state first, you arrive at work with a calm, tactical luxury energy. You aren't rattled by the unexpected because you’ve already won the hardest battle of the day: the battle against the snooze button.
When your team sees a leader who is consistently composed, focused, and energized, it creates a ripple effect. They begin to mirror your stability. That is the essence of the Role Model Mindset.
Rebuild: Strengthening the Foundation
Once you are regulated, you have the mental space to rebuild. This is the tactical part of your morning. It’s where you look at your "Identity, Body, Leadership, and Purpose": the four pillars of the Crews Beyond Limits philosophy.
Are you leading from your highest potential, or are you just playing it safe?
During these quiet hours, I often suggest my clients take the Life Alignment Assessment. It’s a quick way to see where your leadership is leaking energy. Is it your physical health? Your lack of strategic vision? Or perhaps a disconnect from your core purpose? When you identify these gaps at 4:44 AM, you can spend the rest of the morning rebuilding those foundations so you can show up whole for your team.
Rise: Leading with Grounded Authority
By the time 8:00 AM rolls around, a 4:44 AM leader has already exercised, meditated, planned their top priorities, and fueled their body. You are rising into the day while others are still trying to find their footing.
This "Rise" phase is where the tactical luxury aesthetic truly shines. It’s not about being "busy"; it’s about being impactful. You lead with a direct, powerful presence. You don’t need to shout to be heard; your preparation and discipline speak for you.
When you lead yourself with this level of excellence, you naturally expect excellence from your team. Not from a place of scarcity or pressure, but from a place of shared potential. You are showing them what is possible when you take ownership of your life.

Actionable Steps to Shyft Your Morning
If you’re ready to stop playing small and start leading like the Role Model you were meant to be, here is how you start:
- Commit to the Time: Set your alarm for 4:44 AM. No excuses. This is your first act of self-leadership for the day.
- The 34-Minute Rule: Don’t overcomplicate it. Use the first 34 minutes for YOU. No phones, no emails. Just movement and mindset. (Get the guide here: krystalore.com/34).
- Identify Your Top 3: Before the world wakes up, identify the three things that will move the needle for your team today. Focus on those with relentless discipline.
- Connect with the Community: You don't have to do this alone. High-level leadership can feel lonely, but it shouldn't. Join our Free THRIVE Community to surround yourself with other leaders who are also rising at dawn to build their legacy.
Stop Living in Potential and Start Living in Excellence
The difference between a good leader and a great one is often found in the habits no one sees. The 4:44 AM routine isn't a "hack": it’s a commitment to your own excellence. It’s about proving to yourself, every single morning, that you are the kind of person who does what they say they are going to do.
If you are ready to take your leadership to the next level and bridge the gap between where you are and the potential you know you have, let’s talk. My executive coaching is designed for the leader who is ready to Regulate, Rebuild, and Rise.
