Resilience

Resilience isn’t something you’re born with. It’s a skill you develop, and it’s a choice you make every day. I am no stranger to the effects of stress and adversity on the mind, body, and spirit. I’ve been confined to a wheelchair, faced cancer and autoimmune challenges, survived the devastating impact of betrayal, and rebuilt my identity more than once. You can read my story, from wheelchair to marathons, but this category is about yours. Here I write about seasons of change, identity shifts, reinvention, and how to keep going when the plan falls apart. Not resilience as a buzzword, but as lived experience: the mental fortitude to keep going, the strength to pivot, and the courage to rebuild your identity from the ground up. My book, The Road to Resilience: 5 Ways to Have Courageous Confidence in Seasons of Change, is about embracing life’s messier moments and finding your confidence along the way. I also share the resilience lessons from military leadership that still shape how I live, and tools from courses like Identity Does Not Have to Be a Crisis and Rise Beyond Grief and Loss in my course library. Your next mission begins the moment you decide you’re worth fighting for.
